Very Expensive. I took my sick cat to this clinic because he killed a rabbit and became deathly ill. Since I've had cats all my life it was clear to me that he had an infection. What he needed was a shot of antibiotics. However the doctor wanted to do x-rays and blood tests and give him shots that really weren't necessary. He insisted on giving him a shot for nausea even though my cat wasn't nauseous (extra $66). They didn't even take his temperature or try to hydrate him with a subcutaneous injection.

This profession seems to have little accountability. They seem to charge whatever they want and just expect people to accept it. Of course we will not be taking our pets to this clinic anymore. I've posted the bill so it may help others make their own decision.

Update: My cat passed away just 2 days after our visit to Capitol Illini. He did indeed have an infection called Tularemia or rabbit fever. The antibiotic that was given to him was not effective for Tularemia.
A different vet was able to correctly diagnose him and proceeded to treat him with Streptomycin, however it was too late.

I have what most consider a high maintenance dog (he is terrified of the vet and becomes aggressive). We recently visited Capitol Illini, and they were amazing. They were not phased a single bit by my problem child and treated us in the most courteous and professional manner!

I took my dog in to have small tumors checked. Dr. Antanini is always great with Tank who is always scared of new people. The entire team is always welcoming and does a great job.

Dr was amazing and very informational. She was very friendly and I could tell she cared about my dog. The vet techs had the same great attitude and I could tell they really cared about my dog! Would recommend! I’ve heard people complain about the price however, you truly get what you pay for. Their knowledge and time went above and beyond what I paid. They answered every question and went into details so I would understand the process.

Capitol Illini is the Best! .. I have a 13 year old dog who needed to be seen and as usual I encountered very knowledgeable, caring staff. I am so glad I chose them! I would highly recommend them!

There will never be enough kind words to say about Capitol Illini and Dr. O'Brian. My goofball cat was the most high-maintenance creature and yet Dr. O'Brian and the entire staff loved her like she was their own and cared for her every step of the five years we had her. Their compassion and knowledge will consistently put them a step above the rest.

Call and get someone's assurance that they will actually stay there during the hours they have posted online. I didn't see any hours posted on the actual door, which isn't really good either, but they 100% left as I was pulling up at 5:27pm. My wife took our cat there and needed to get a prescription after a diagnosis. She called in the morning, paid for the prescription over the phone, and told them I would come pick it up after I got off work at 5pm. The workers were literally pulling out as I pulled up, and didn't care one bit. Called the Springfield office and they took care of me and apologized. If you're gonna go there, and you have a life during the week, follow them on Facebook so you can see if they decided to close early. Cause they definitely didn't tell my wife before I made the 25 minute trek to their Chatham office. Super frustrating.

This practice is not cheap, but it is the best! Sr Antonini saved the life of my Aussie. Years later when my aggressive German shepherd, he compassionately helped me in ways few would. I cannot recommend enough. Come here for great vet care.
